SAE and IEEE EMC Chicago Sections will be hosting a St Patrick’s Day networking event and a technical talk with SAE distinguished speaker, Dr Jay Zhou at Elite Electronic Engineering.
Members, guests, and interested attendees come together for a festive evening of conversation and professional networking. We will have St. Patrick’s Day-themed food, refreshments, learning, and more, so come and connect with your local technical community colleagues. This is a FREE event and everyone is welcome to attend – registration is required.
Guest Speaker: Dr Jay Zhou recognized as a distinguished SAE Fellow and Mentor, as well as an ASQ Fellow.
Reliability of Electrical Vehicles
This part of the presentation introduces Reliability Design and Analysis for Electric Vehicles, covering strategies for avoiding failure modes in hardware, software, and human errors. Since there are many reliability issues that are not vehicle type specific, we’ll have time for an overview of both types of cars. Of course there are going to be autonomous electric vehicles as well. The discussion will encompass the following topics:
• Current EV Reliability (Recall, Reliability Ranking, Initial Quality)
• Battery Cell, Module and Pack
• Major Battery Loadings. Major Battery Failure Modes
• EV System Engineering Models. EV Robust Models
• Battery Module Design for Reliability
• Computer Simulation for Reliability
• Charging Station Reliability
• Reliability (Mechanical, Electronics, Software)
Dr. Jay Zhou is recognized as a distinguished SAE Fellow and Mentor, as well as an ASQ Fellow. He had worked at Ford Motor Company with a wealth of global experience in quality and new product launch. Dr. Zhou held various leadership roles, including Vice President of Ford Asia Pacific, Corporate Executive Technical Leader, and member of the Technology Advisory Board (TAB). His academic journey includes earning M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Michigan. He has published over 30 technical papers and has attained a US patent in the field of vehicle durability. He has also trained over 15,000 engineers in more than 20 countries.
